
The IAC is a grass-roots, community-based neighborhood organization for immigrants,
refugees and other minorities (African-American, African, Hispanic, Caribbean,
Asian, European, etc.).
The Indochinese-American Council's mission is two-fold:
- To empower multi-racial, low-income and at-risk minorities,
and
- To promote racial harmony and cultural understanding through
education, traditional arts, and personal interaction.
In addition to the promotion of cultural harmony, the IAC provides Core Education
classes (English as Second Language Education (ESL), Adult Basic Education,
Pre-GED, GED, and Secondary Education), traditional art-education, computer
skills training, after-school tutoring, pre-employment training, internship
placement, job placement, counseling, case management, referral services, and
translation and interpretation services.
The IAC staff speaks 13 languages, including Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese,
Cambodian, Indonesian, Spanish, Russian, French, Creole, Arabic, etc.
