IAC Youth Programs

  1. Kids & Fun is an all-day summer camp program for children, ages 6 -16. It focuses on reading, academic enrichment, and art education. The program is supported by the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Youth Network,and coporations and private foundations. This program features traditional African, Asian, and Latino art classes taught by artists residing in the Logan/Olney neighborhood.

  2. Summer Work-Experience Programs are for low-income high school students, ages 14-21. They provide youth with paid work experience in private or non-profit organizations.

  3. Summer Community Service Program provides youth with summer employment opportunities to improve their communities through neighborhood beautification, assisting senior citizens, tutoring and mentoring for small children, creating mural art, or other worthwhile works.

  4. After-School Tutoring, Internship, Counseling, and Mentoring Program for Youth provides students from the Logan/Olney neighborhood schools, grades K-5, with academic enrichment, job training, employment mentoring, and leadership training. The program operates after school during the school year.

  5. Community Service and Restitution Program helps youth, ages 12 - 21, fulfill their court-mandated community service and/or restitution obligation to their victims through a stipend of $6.00 per community service hour paid directly into the Juvenile Restitution Fund. Community service opportunities include neighborhood beautification, helping with community events, working at soup kitchens, wrapping toys for tots, and packing groceries for SHARE. Participants also have the opportunity to enroll in other IAC programs.

  6. Traditional Art and Mural Arts Programs promote cultural understanding to increase academic achievement, strengthen self-esteem and identity, and build leadership through art. Visual art includes mural arts and mosaic arts. Performance art includes folk dance, modern dance, and drama. Artists are recruited from the Logan/Olney neighborhood.

  7. Community Science Education Program brings free science workshops from the Franklin Institute, the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Philadelphia Zoo, and the Adventure Aquarium to community organizations.
